DIMPLEX OPTI-MYST ELECTRIC FIRE ADJUSTABLE 3D FLAME AND SMOKE EFFECT, REMOTE CONTROL. This is a Dimplex Danville model DNV20AB in Antique Brass. This opti-myst fire is in very good condition and in full working order and has only had one owner with occasional use. Unique flame and smoke effect can be used independently of the heater as a focal point in a room.

The fan heater is hidden away under the hinged canopy and has two heat settings. 1kw & 2kw with a variable thermostat control. The smoke / flame height is variable and controlled by a knob under the hinged canopy. The remote control turns the flame / smoke effect on/off, and the fan heater on/off, high and low heat settings can be operated from the remote control as well. The full functions can also be operated direct on the fire with the controls under the hinged canopy as can be seen in my photos.

Dimplex claim they have created the worlds most realistic electric flame and smoke effect illusion that's so effective that it is difficult to distinguish it from a real flame. There is no flue or chimney necessary the fire can be fitted in a fire place or fire surround. The fire is free standing and has adjustable feet and is not fixed in place. Please Note as can be seen in one of the photos there are a couple of light scratch marks to the right very bottom part of the brass surround. Please note dimensions are shown in the photos section apart from this one.

The hole in the wall / surround or fireplace to allow the fire to fit flush against a wall or surround are as follows. Width to allow a comfortable fit. (Just over 2 1/2 inches).

Dimplex do sell a surround that allows the fire to fit against a flat wall, if there is no hole in your wall to take the part of the fire that sticks out at the back. A transducer sits in a bath of water and vibrates at ultra sonic speed. This forms like a mist over the water bath. Like a low mist over a lake for example.

A variable speed fan blows the mist along a channel which exits near the rear of the fire behind the log effect fuel bed. The heat from the orange lamps heats the mist making it rise with the light reflecting in the mist. This then dissipates as it rises but the illusion is of flame and smoke. The amount of flame / smoke effect is controlled by the variable control knob for the fan speed, all of which is silent.

The log fuel bed is illuminated by the orange lamps from underneath which give the effect of burning embers in the fuel bed. The orange bottle full of water which Dimplex recommend using filtered tap water, keeps automatically topping up the ultrasonic transducer bath. When it runs out the fire will beep and turn itself off. Depending on the amount of flame / smoke effect being used will alter the time frequency of how often the water bottle needs refilling.

A full bottle on medium setting would last perhaps 8 to 10 hours which is a bit of a guess. The photos are of the actual item for sale taken in April this year. The video I have inserted is set at a slightly higher than normal flame and smoke setting to demonstrate how effective and well it works. As can be seen the smoke effect is starting to drift outside of the canopy but can be turned right down to suit the effect or mood required.
